    Re: Job vacancy, in Hospital

Thanks JaneN. I've stayed too long at the place i'm at. Things had become much better as we were lucky enough to have an amazing new Pharmacy manager back in April of this year but because of the problems with our branch and a couple of members of staff, she has had enough and is leaving. The most excitement I had last week was when the Omeprazole 20mg finally came back into stock!!!!!!!!! Now that's sad..... If I get an FU letter from the hospital, then i'll keep trying.

    Re: Job vacancy, in Hospital

I've been offered another community job, 4 days at 5 pound an hour. I'm doing 2 days at 5 pound an hour at the place where I did my training over the past year. However the new place wants me to deliver 2 days a week, in my own car! And 5 pound an hour, the interviewer said, oooo its good as your only 19, its the minimum pay for 20 year olds or something. I thought that you get paid on your experience and qualifications, not your age, its rubbish. The only reason I have 5 pound an hour at my current place is because my boss isn't on the register and has to pay for another pharmacist, we are hoping his case date comes in January for him to be re-instated.

I really was a miserable considering handing in my notice, but I actually didnt want to leave, because its a community pharmacy. I'd be happy if it was a hospital one. And the post I have applied for is Rotational Pharmacy Technician. So rotating around must be good, right? But also. I have just passed my driving test in November, and got insurance 3 weeks ago, and they want me delivering! My mum did like the idea, neither did I, I could have a crash whilst delivering, write my car off and lose my job! Thats what I thought.

So I'm turning that one down and waiting for a hospital job to be offered, and if I dont, I just keep looking like Dizzyb23. I'm only 19, did my training within a year, I cant complain much really. Weither I have made the right decision or not is another thing. I have a hospital interview on 5th January and I am still waiting for an interview date for another hospital. So fingers crossed, Its a new year, new start I'm ssure for all of us

janeN and Dizzyb23, where abouts are you both from?? I'm from Nottingham. One of the hospitals i've applied for used to actually be 2 different, but joined together few years ago. So I'd actually rotate around the two campuses - which theres a free shuttle bus from them both so wouldnt have to drive far, as I live near to one than the other and rotate throught the departments. So I'm hoping I'll get this one!!!

I've wrote an essay almost!! Sorry guys! Good Luck!!!

    Happy Christmas to everyone!!!! xx

Just a warning. If you deliver items in your car, may well invalidate the insurance and you could be personally liable.

i was just gonna say the same as johnep - i know a dispenser who was collecting a script from the surgery in her own car and knocked a guy off his motorbike - her insurance was invalid

Rotational tech sounds good!!!! We have a similar layout with 2 hospitals and you rotate between these and the ADU

    Re: Job vacancy, in Hospital

    Hi Laura
I lost this thread so didn't reply...sorry. Anyway, firstly £5.00 an hour??? Did I read that right???? And you are a qualified Pharm Tech?? Blimey. That's bad. I was moaning at £8.00 an hour. Secondly I'm in the buckinghamshire area and still waiting to hear if i've got an interview for the hospital job but received a letter inviting me for interview for another NHS job I applied for months ago!! They do run slow. My only problem now (isn't there always) is that i'm waiting for a major op and am having it on 15th Feb. The recovery period is supposed to be 12 weeks or longer. There's no way I can start a new job and then pop off on the sick for months. So, of course, i'm going to have to tell whoever interviews me. Wonder if they want me enough, they'll hold the job open??? No, I know. Not a chance. Just grasping at straws as I want to leave my job so much but my health comes first.

So how are you managing Laura?? Any news??

    Re: Job vacancy, in Hospital

    Hi

Yup, You read right. Basically because my boss, who owns the pharmacy is paying for another pharmacist, he cant afford to pay me more. Until he gets back on the register, He will. But it is poor. I have been doing a few locum days at 12 pound an hour!!!Lol. I'm a qualified tech, I did my course in a year. Hard work and late nights, well early mornings going to bed. Lol. I have an interview on 2nd Feb. So hopefully. Fingers crossed.

I know what you mean, I'm type 1 diabetic, and have regular check ups at hospital etc. But If i was to get this hospital job, I'd be able to have my lunch break late and walk up a corridor and I'll be at my appointment. But I also have another problem, with warts. I have a group of 20-30 on each finger around the nail bed. And I've only just been offered to see a Dermatologist after 2 years. So thats another appointment to add to my list. And you, yourself think, well They aren't going to have me if I'm going to be off all the time, etc etc.

Work it out, from the interview date etc including giving ur work a months notice, or more. Then see if u'd have had ur operation by then.

    Hi Laura
£5 is bad!!! But a job is a job. Things will change for ya. Good luck with the interview. I have really hated this "sicky" thing. It has caused so many probs, not just for me but has had a huge knock-on effect with folk at work. But light at the end of the tunnel and i'm hoping all will turn out well after my op. They say three months basic recovery period so maybe the folk at the possible new job will think i'm worth waiting for. I guess it just depends on how much they really need help.......Sorry to hear that you have health issues also. It is not fun.....And how much hassle is it to get a consultants appointment?? I won't bore you with all the details but i've been through the mill just simply trying to get to see someone to help me.
Let me know how you get on in the interview
    Take care

    Hi Dizzyb23

Your right. It keeps me going and my car on the road for know. I think if you say anything, they will consider you out the question. If they ask about help, then you'll probs have to say. But I think tell them, after they offer it you, if they do. What do you think??

I've been the same, sorry to hear you have too. I have been to my GP numerous times about these warts on my hands saying that I hate confronting people who wil see my hands, and in pharmacy accepting prescriptions from patients, they see them. And I sat infront of the doctor after handing me a script for Extra Strength Bazuka saying that its bother me etc, and only till then he said he'd refer me. Yet I still have a month and half wait for my first appointment. So we shall see. As for verrucas on my foot, looks like I'll end up having skin excission surgery, which will be a long recovery process and possibly crutches and hopping about. And no driving

I will definately let you know. I'm starting to get a few tips, and write a few good points to say, and I'm counting down. Lol. I really want this. But also one of the interviewers interviewed me nearly 2 years ago for a Sudent Tech job. But they didnt have enough posts to offer me one. And the fact I haven't given up, and I did my course in 1 year, must be a good point for them.
