I have also been offered an interview here for a Band 6 pharmacist position - does anyone have any info on the hospital etc? I will look up all usual sources - their own site etc just wondering if anyone had some more obscure info maybe. Anyway anything at all would be great
I did a placement there as part of my MPharm (fourth year). This was back in 2004/2005 however. Its a new hospital, well designed and very clean. I was impressed with the hopital as a whole. I was less impressed with the pharmacy department, as the clinical pharmacy service seemed to be a bit brief. The staff, while friendly, seemed to lack a certain 'omph'. They also still wore white coats out on the wards. The pre-regs I met there seemed happy with their lot though (as a student I spent time with them and the senior pharmacists, not the basic grades). They had their own office to do their work in, and didn't warn us off or anything - so I presume the Band 6's had office space. This was about five years ago, so maybe everything has changed. I'd go for the interview and ask for a tour. You can always turn them down. Ask a lot of questions about their clinical pharmacy service and sponsorship for the diploma.
