    Hospital pre-reg through clearing

I know I'm getting ahead of myself a little but I haven't heard from any of my hospitals so I'm not holding out much hope.

So, I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the number of pre-reg hospital placements there are left once it gets to the clearing process. Obviously if some of you knew an estimate, I'm sure there's no way to really tell. There's got to be some people out there who got their pre-reg through clearing??

I read a thread on another forum and it said there were loads of places left around the London hospitals (this guy really stressed the loads part). This was after the first round Then I noticed the thread was from 2005...damn. I wonder how things have changed since then. I know there has been lots of cutbacks in the NHS which would affect number of posts available!!!

Yeah you are getting a little ahead of yourself I've yet to hear back from two hospitals and i'm sure many people are in the same boat. As to a figure for clearing the number varies from year to year so i wouldn't rely on an estimate. NHS London are meant to be increasing their pre-reg places next year but then there's expected to be cuts in the following two years.

Spoke to a practising hospital pre reg last yr and she said that it is usually unlikely for their to be places through clearing. if there are, they are usually in less populated areas having difficulty recruiting good candidates or hospitals were student dont apply to much. But be positive quite ALOT of people are still waiting for replies.

hey.... i was waiting to hear from two other hospitals, but i lost the patience so i decided to call and find out if they had already shortlisted for their interviews and the lady told me that they had but my name was not shortlisted for the first round of interviews, she said that if they don't fill their places with he first round then the will call those that are on the second round shortlist..... so it could help if you call some of these hospitals if your status hasn't been updated yet on pharmalife.
