    Hospital pre reg interviews

    Hi,

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear from our chosen hospitals about interviews for pre-reg starting 2010. I've chosen Lewisham, Northwick Park, Mayday and Royal Brompton. Anyone ever had interviews in any of these hospitals and could they give me an idea of what to expect??! Saying that, I'm obviously aware that I might not get any interviews which scares me. I have a Boots offer but after my Summer placement, I'm not too enthusiastic about community pharmacy at all.
Also how do hospitals contact your non-academic referee because I think I made a mistake on the email address of mine.

    Many thanks

Hi.....im in the same boat! all i know is the applications have gone off to the hospitals on the 4th Sep and when the intervews are offered depends on the hospital. Someone i know who applied last year said she didnt get an interview for one hospital until october.

Have you got the book called 'the pre-registration interview' published by pharmaceutical press...well worth a look at in terms of interview prep x

Hi....Does anyone know how much or many clinical questions are asked in the interviews? or what type? as this can be quite difficult on the spot.

Also Is there a calcluation test?

Did you guys rank your hospitals??

Yea I've just ordered that book from Amazon, it seems to be the only one of its type available so I thought it would be worth the investment.
Other than that with regard clinical q's and calculations, I think it depends on the individual hospitals. All seem to be different. It's a good idea to go through all the threads on this site though since alot of people in the past have described what type of an interview they had.
    I haven't ranked my hospitals.
Where have you guys applied to?
Does anyone know anything about how hospitals contact the non academic referee for a reference??

Congratulations! At last a new poster who has looked through the forum instead of asking the same old questions. Wish all our first time posters were as intelligent as you.

I didn't rank my hospitals as i've heard in some cases it can alienate the other hospitals that are not ranked 1st, plus im not too fussed as long as i can get a place. Ive applied to N&N, Ipswich, James Paget and Colchester.

Im hoping the hospital will contact my non-academic referee via phone as he doesn't have an email address!

just got offered an interview today for the 24th sept

Yea I'm not too fussed as long as I get one of them but don't know what the chances are.

Congrats on the interview, hope it goes well.

I'm hoping the same cos it will make me look a bit stupid if i've put down the wrong email address! Do the contact the referee for a reference after your interview or before do you think?

Non-academic referees are contacted by email aren't they ? At least thats what I thought. I didn't rank either (but was tempted for one hospital).
Very likely you'll get a clinical question, maybe involving looking at a drug chart, although I wouldn't expect the q's to be too difficult (ACEi's, B-blockers, statins, inhalers typically). Some hospitals have calculation questions others don't. No way of telling until you hear from them.

Hey maxwel7. I applied to the royal bromptom too and they phoned me yesterday about interviews w/c 13th so you'd have heard from them by now I think.
