    Oral Syringe (Screw Type?)

A lady came in asking for a syringe that has a kind of screw on it she said that she originally got one from the hospital. I work in the community and can only find an oral syringe w/bung. I'm just wondering whether there is anyone who works in a hospital pharmacy and knows what I'm referring to, what they are actually called and where I can obtain a few.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the vague description.

The universal bung (I think that's what it's called) springs to mind. It has a screw-like thread and can be put into different sized bottles.

    This?

Could be barking up the wrong tree, but this is the only "screw type" that springs to mind.

Was she given a syringe meant to take a needle? (eg Luer Lock) - ie what the hospital had to hand, not a proper oral syringe.

Syringes Given out with inkjet kits have a twist to put on the needle.
With regard to hospitals using injection syringes instead of oral. This is very dangerous, at least one death from oral medication (Epanutin syrup) being given IV in error.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'll ask next time I'm in the hospital. The lady returned today and didn't seem to recall asking me for the screw type syringe.

We once got asked for cotton buds that don't squeak when you use them.

God don't you just love that when you've been trying really hard to do something and then they're completely flippant about it!
