Maybe work in the UK, need some help!!

hi!

I am a scandinavian pharmacist and would like to maybe one day come and work in the UK. I would like to work with clinical pharmacy. I have no experiance in this field. Do you think a unexperianced EU pharmacist could get a clinical pharmacist band 6 job in the UK? I only have community pharmacy experiance.

Would it maybe be better for me to first work in a community pharmacy in UK and then 1-2 years later apply for a band 6 clinical job??

Will be very happy if someone here can give me some information on this.

At present hospitals in the UK are desperate for pharmacists, because they pay a lot less than community. What band they would offer you, I've no idea, possibly just a newly qualified, but they would put you through a clinical diploma.

If you are interested, and can afford to live on what they pay, now could be an ideal time for you to go directly to hospital.

Thanks!! i did not expect so fast answers.. the anual pay for a band 6 is somewhere around £25000 an annum, if i am not wrong. After taxes and all it will be around 1500 £ a month. Dont you think it will be enough to live with this in the begining?? Anyway i dont want to work in community pharmacy, i have allready experianced that and want to try clinical and see how much i like it. And the salary will go up after some years and reach what community offer.

On the web ii find alot sites that recrutes EU pharmacist for working in community but i cant find any Hospitals recruteing EU pharmacist... Thats why i brought this queastion up..

If you are single, then no problem, stay in digs for a while, then put advert on hospital notice board and someone somewhere will have a room to rent.

Fact you are working at the hospital will give mutual references.

If you have responsibilities, then could be difficult.

Give us your nationality and bound to be others on the forum.

You will have to do on-calls as a hospital pharmacist which can be quiete stressful. Also you will have to do the clinical diploma over 2-3 years which can conssume lots of time and effort as it's hard work.

ok thanks for the infos. what about the postivite stuff with working in hospital??? i did not know about the diploma... so you have to take this in order to proceed to the other bands.. How hard is this diploma. Does it really take 3 years to complete. thats like another pharmacy education. what do you learn?

Did you get place in Hospital Pharmacy?I am as well EU Pharmacist , unexperianced in hospitality setting and all agencies need UK experiance to be place in hospital, do you have the same feelings ?regards
