    Post 'plausible' ADRs?

[sorryi have posted this elsewhere before but didn't get many responses so I thought i'd try again]

My question is do androgen-type drugs have similar (adverse) metabolic effects to corticosteroids?

[ie would you generally associate outcomes such as hyperglycemia/diabetes mellitus with their use? similarly, would adrenocortical insufficiency be an expected side effect?]

The reason I am asking is that as part of a project I'm looking at ADRs recorded in patient medical records and the drugs associated with them.

When looking at ADRs linked to 'Androgens and their anabolic congeners' a few of the above were mentioned and they don't sound right to me. I didn't know that there was much legitimate use for anabolic steroids/testosterone anymore any yet they're linked to quite a few ADRs.

That is why they are not used in medicine these days.

We just have testosterone patches and gelmfor men, but very rarely prescribed in general practice.
