Ohh no that's such a shame would this be for a 3rd year placement with them? At least you can still apply for pre-reg and they'd know you were down to do a placement before..

And i thought my hospital were bad, organising things a week before i was to start. As you said, voluntary work would be a great thing to do anyway, hope you find something

there seems to be a lack of pharmacists in the hospital sector , mostly due to the difference in pay, its rather concerning.

Yeah it's third year. Pre-reg shouldn't be affected but we'll see.

Used to be no problem with independents. Now fears of 'elf and safety' mean that no person supposed to be allowed in a pharmacy until vetted by HR etc.

When it was decided that I was to become a pharmacist at the age of 16, I simply had an interview with a BTC area manager who prompted me to apply to SOP London and suggested I could work as a Saturday boy in their large branch in Ilford.

At SOP it was suggested we applied for vac jobs with local manufacturers and again no problems. Such a shame that things have changed.

i really dont like it when they take ur details and everything and say the going to phone back but it goes 3 weeks and none of the pharmacies phone back.

is it they dont care or are they too busy?

Regret that failure to keep promises of returning calls a feature of today.

Throughout my business life I had a policy of making sure customers etc were contacted promptly. Got me a lot of business.

We do care but usually depts. are so badly organised on the admin side details get lost and no one takes control of these enquiries. In my experience e-mail is best as that pops up and can't be lost, unless deleted then it sits in a folder anyway. Keep contacting, it shows you are keen. We have 80+ staff in the Dept. and one, not full time, secretary. I encourage you to use e-mail, to HOP even copied in.
    Good luck
