role of hospital pharmacist
would you say hospital pharmacists spend alot of time with the patients on wards?
very confused, want to work in a career helping people with the use of science. considered medicine but was put off by the intensive training and VERY long hours but then again I do work hard.
How people based is pharmacy?

On the whole... no a pharmacist doesn't spend a lot of time with a patient. Usually a drug history is taken, perhaps drug counselling for things like Warfarin or Steroids but most of the time is spent checking charts, topup prescribing for inpatient meds and representing pharmacy at ward level. Infact the role of the Medicine Management Technician has taken alot of the workload off of the pharmacist on the ward.
