    Smile Blacklisted?

Hi. It has sure been a long time since my last post, who said hospital pharmacy was easy or quiet, Lol.

Anyway, is anyone able to check whether GlucoJuice is available on FP10 prescription or is it blacklisted. Due to the new job, I have been having a lot of hypos and need something better than lucazade.

    Thanks

    No, it's not blacklisted.

On the other hand, I don't quite understand the rationale for prescribing this type of item - they are so many possible ways of obtaining glucose from readily available foods and drinks.

Ribena? I don't know what you are buying but it shouldn't be expensive.

I have half a bottle of lucazade. Cant keep it for long once opened though, but your having an absolute laugh if you think ribena can bring me from a hypo.

what about glucogel? you'd only need to carry a small sachet around then, instead of a big bottle in your bag...

Always used to be Dextrosol or lucozade tablets.

No. I'm not having a laugh. Ribena original is very high in sugar and perfectly effective in bringing other people around from a hypo.

    Re: Blacklisted?

assuming you dont' pay for your prescriptions, as a charge would prob be a bit more than a few bottles of "ribena" or some lucozade tablets..or is the plan to go to the GP and ask for it on prescriptions but stock up on it so you only pay the 1 charge and get 6months supply on the script..crafty! and i would do the same....but to throw it out there, if everyone found shortcuts like that, (and i'm not blaming you for doing it) we (NHS) could be in a worse off position!
