    Cortopin/steroid cream question...

Hi! I just went into Morrisons' pharmacy to get some kind of steroid cream for a rash that I have on my penis. Tough thing to negotiate in a packed supermarket but I thought I did OK - the woman behind the counter asked me where the rash was and I was trying to be subtle as there were about 4 people in a line behind me .

I said "low down" and held my hand down to waist level. It looked like she understood me and gave me some stuff called Cortopin, saying it was a general steroid cream. However, I get it home and on reading the instructions it tells me I can't use it in the genital area. I'm fairly annoyed and don't fancy going back to explain why.

Could anyone please recommend a steroid cream that I can use "low down"? Many thanks.

cortopin is suitable for use 'down there'. It just hasn't been licensed for that condition in the over-the-counter format. you can always patch test it first.
If you don't feel happy using it then take it back and ask for some daktacort HC cream instead. It has the 1% hydrocortisone in it and an antifungal called miconazole in it too (very useful if your rash 'down below' has any associated fungal infection).

Thanks so much! Will try the Cortopin and give your recommended cream a go if not.
