Atrovent for excess saliva?
I received a prescription today for "Atrovent Inhaler, 1-2 puffs into the mouth up to qds for excess saliva and drooling."
I checked with my Pharmacist and she hadn't come across it before, so asked me to ring the Doctor. The Doctor confirmed that that was what he intended, even though it is outside the product licence, as it was recommended by the Parkinson's specialist.
Neither I nor any of my colleagues had come across this before (although we have seen Atropine Eye Drops used sublingually for this purpose) and I just wondered if anyone had seen this before, and if so, how does it work?
