Buprenorphine for pain relief - dose
Is dosage of buprenorphine "2 mg under the tongue three to four times a day" for pain management acceptable? BNF states that it should be rather 200-400 mcg. The patient has been using BuTrans 5mcg/hr patches

I've never seen that before. As you mentioned the range from BNF, 2mg would be 5x the recommended. Could it be a mistake?

sounds like someone got confused between micrograms and milligrams
i wouldn't fancy trying to cram 10 tablets under my tongue

Sounds like someone is confusing Subutex (for dependence) with Temgesic (for pain relief).
