    Ever heard of this?

I have been doing great on citalopram for 6 months. however up to two weeks ago the horrible anxiety problems have returned that i had before starting citalopram. I told my doctor that there have been no stressors or reason for anxiety. I told him that i have not missed a dose and kept at 30mg. My doctor has said that it is rare but i may be experiencing ssri poop out. He said try it at 40mg to try and get the responce back. But what the hell does he mean by poop out?

    Re: Ever heard of this?

Well, in England that slang sounds like a laxative effect lol, but that side effect is fortunately fairly unusual. Your Doctor thinks that your nerve endings are exhausted, basically, IMO.

I can't believe (well, actually, it's far from unusual) that you didn't ask the supreme being him/herself what s/he meant.

A great advantage of SSRIs etc is that they cause a relief of symptome. That should, IMO, be an opportunity to go to therapy and address the underlying problems. If you don't do that, it's just obvious to me that when you stop taking them, or when your body starts failing to respond properly to the medication, the symptoms will return.

Another thing: check you have enough serotonin in your body. SSRIs help you to make do with less, but if that isn't enough, obviously they won't work. I'm talking optimum nutrition here of the building blocks that the body uses to synthesise serotonin. Tryptophan and Zinc are both needed, anyway, here is an article: Feed your mind: iVillage but there are loads of others.
    ....just my opinion
