83 years old? she's old enough to take the risk and choose her pain relief, 7 in 10 of us have popped our clogs before that age. safest course is to get a private prescription.

in america it's called darvocet, it's a controlled drug and it's a different formulation to the US. you can buy it online (it's schedule 5 in the UK so not illegal just to possess for personal use) There is also plan Darvon which is the opioid without paracetamol. BUT you may get a fake as not all internet pharmacies are trustworthy.
I could get co-prox from North Cyprus in one of the chemists there without a script, but most countries would not allow that.

Just an update on my original post - I went to the GP with my Mum and managed to get him to give her a prescription (NHS) for 100 Co-Proxamol. Ironic thing was though, the GP said " yes, they are a very good painkiller, I take them for my back pain"! I bet he doesn't have to jump through hoops to get them though!

These are a "special order" now but many pharmacies keep them in stock, what's so surprising about this?

We went to her "very helpful" pharmacist who had them in stock and he said he has no problem in ordering them.

It's normally available on next-day delivery eg. from Clinigen or Lexon. Can order as little as one box or in bulk.

However, last week he told her he was no longer able to get them. Nothing else agrees with her ( she has a very sensitive stomach!) and I was wondering if there was anywhere they could still be obtained, even if it means paying privately for them. My sister is going to America soon - can they be bought there at all? Any help with this query would be very much appreciated.
Your mother can be made a "named patient" by her GP the then GP can prescribe co-proxamol on a FP10 the community pharmacist will then order it on a named patient basis

most GP do not want to give co-proxamol anymore because of the high cost and the impact on their budget, yes Co- is a dangerous drug but so are most of the drugs and if your mother has been taking it for so long without an incident there is no reason to assume it has become more dangerous for her now that it is unlicense!
