    im hanging in there!

well im hanging in there with sexual side effects from citalopram. i have posted before about options for alternatives. having unsucessfully tried mirtazapine my options are limited. but i do need a antidepressant for my gad/panic. cbt going well.

i recently spoke to my gp about sexual side effects. she has now sent me for a blood test to check thyroid and testosterone. why would she being doing that? She did ask have i ever had a blood test. i said not for years at my old surgery. is this to check for anxiety or is she checking for something else. im confused.

anyway i looked up the only drug that has no sexual side effects is trazodone. i may ask gp what shes thinks as these sexual side effects are doing my head in. but at same time i am doing well on citalopram so dont wanna undo months of good responce.

...Wonder what the clinical manifestations of thyroid and testosterone deficiency are?
That might be while your GP wants to eliminate an endocrine problem.
Nothing sinister going on - looks like your GP is doing his/her job!
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.

There are a number of other antidepressants/anxiolytics which don't have sexual side effects such as bupropion, tianeptine, agomelatine and buspirone, a private doctor may be required though because of NHS policies. My private psychiatrist prescribed me buspirone for anxiety saying the short term use reccomendation in the BNF was nonsense.
