is it safe to take ginko biloba with citalopram? I am thinking of seeing if it helps reverse ssri sexual side effects.

I have never heard, even anecdotally, of ginkgo biloba being used for improving libido. I always thought this was used mainly by people who wanted to improve their memory/concentration.

i've not heard of ginko being used for libido either....but i wouldn't really advise to mix drugs and herbal medication together....how about you take a trip to the GP, always the possibility of switching to an alternative anti-depressant which has less of an effect on your libido?!?!

i've only skimmed through the study but it doesn't seem a very robust one - it wasn't run as a double blind trial for a start off. further investigation reveals study was run by a chiropractor.

at the end of the study page it is stated that a double blind trial should be carried out. since one obviously hasn't i would treat the whole study as somewhat suspect.

i would recommend the best course of action is to consult your GP and switch to an alternate SSRI or antidepressant.

a further look at the MH sanctuary website - they are well meaning but they strongly suggest that they are there as information only and should not be used in lieu of your GP or therapist, who you should consult before making any decisions.

My doctor put my onto citalopram for some depression and it completely puddled my brain. I was forgetting anything and everything and got to the point where I couldn't even touchtype or drive properly anymore! I stopped taking it, but the problems with memory persisted, so I started taking ginkgo biloba and within a couple of weeks I was getting back to normal. Ignore the poster above who says that it doesn't work. The effects may not be dramatic, but it does have a positive effect. People expect herbal medicine to have the same potent effect as conventional medicine, but it doesn't work like that - the effects are just as effective, but more subtle and it doesn't have the side effects of conventional medicine.

Don't take ginkgo biloba if you're taking warfarin because ginkgo does thin the blood slightly.

Oh, a side effect I do believe!

-- if only herbs and grapefruit, to name but a few thousand, had no side effects and interactions with other medicines. But they do. Less, to be sure, and often acceptable, but they do.

Anyway, I know you're a spammer, but you should know better than to post rubbish on a technical forum.

More like a troll I would consider. There seems to be a whole industry grown up whereby companies are told that the spammer can increase the google rating by multiplying the links. Easiest way to do this is join forums to garner more mugs who will click on the link.

Mugs don't have to click on the links. The google ranking depends on the number of links that point to a particular site: google always try and have the most popular sites first.

Alternatively, you can pay to have it uprated, but google apparently charge more than spammers.
As I've said before, what a way to make a living. It's no wonder they know about citalopram.
