Broccoli contains organic sulphur which can be absorbed, whereas sulpates are inorganic and usually tend to pass straight through, Magnesium Sulphate (Epsoms salts) is an osmotic laxative.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, certain wells gained a reputation as 'cures'. Remembering that treatments at the time were bleeding or purgatives, a natural water that produced a 'result' was regarded highly. Eventually these waters were analysed and most found to contain suphates. A chemist, Dr Glauber produced Sodium Sulphate as a cheap alternative, Glauber's salts. Epsom salts still available in every chemist. Besides it's laxative effect, magnesium sulphate paste used to 'draw' out a boil and also put into the bath where it's osmotic effect draws out fluid from the body and the reduction in weight gave it a 'slimming' reputation. Paroxetine is a fairly short acting SSRI antidepressant, getting it 'out of the body' should be as simple as reducing the dose gradually.
The organic sulphur compounds in broccoli thought to be beneficial in removing 'free radicals'.
