Hyoscine (Joy Rides, Kwells) is probably the best travel sickness remedy. Works quickly and has a short duration of action, so its useful for short journeys. Can get drowsiness, dry mouth (can give sweets for her to suck on).
Meclozine (Sea Legs) and cinnarizine (Stugeron) are antihistamines which have a longer duration of action so are useful for longer journeys e.g by ferry. Both can also cause drowsiness. If you're not keen on drugs you could always try the sea band acupressure wrist band (works ??). As with all travel sickness medicines they should be taken before the journey (little use during an attack).

Hyoscine can be taken when started being sick. Hold in mouth just below the tongue (sub lingually) and it will be absorbed directly into bloodstream.

Cheers didn't know that John, I assumed all were ineffective if taken once an attack has started. However if it causes dry mouth how would that affect its absorption sublingually ?

If you have a dry mouth, already in the circulation. Drop of water will soon fix that. My family have used hyoscine for over 50 years with excellent results.
Mindyou there have been times when I know that being sick will help too much wine and a toothbrush poked down the thoat works well.
One memorable occasion on a delayed flight to the States when they had plied us with drink in the VIP area and then on the plane. I just knew I had to get some of the alcohol out of me so I could go to sleep.
