Hi.....
Norethisterone (or norethindrone) is used in some combined oral contraceptive pills and in some progestogen only pills. It is a progestogen and can be used to treat premenstrual syndrome, painful periods, abnormal heavy bleeding, irregular periods, menopausal syndrome (in combination with oestrogen), or to postpone a period. Norethindrone was the first orally highly active progestin to be synthesized. It was synthesized for the first time by chemists Luis Miramontes, Carl Djerassi, and George Rosenkranz at Syntex in Mexico City in 1951
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medication includes nausea, vomiting, bleeding between menstrual periods, breast tenderness or weight gain.
Hi Shwampa
Thanks for that. It seems as though the night sweats/hot flushes were such a problem for this person taking this med that they stopped the tablets abruptly but the sweating carried on for a couple of days from what she was saying. It also seemed to make her main symptoms worse so there was really no point her taking them.
ive just noticed some blood when i went to the toilet but im not due on for another 2 weeks. im thinking it might be from taking Norethisterone but i stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago. im not sure how long the side effects last so if anyone has experienced this could you please let me know.
