    Dosage question

    Hi,
Could you answer this question for me please?
If a patient is prescribed antibiotics and the dosage is one 5ml 4 times a day, how many hours should there be between each dose?
Should it be calculated using 24 hours, in which case there is a long gap while you are asleep, but the doses are more evenly spread throughout the day. Or, should it be calculated using 12 hours?
This one has always puzzled me...sorry if I'm being a bit thick here
    Thanks.

A day is 24 hours, therefore every six hours. last on going to bed, first on waking up next morning.

No questions are ever stupid - getting it right is what matters.

Yes as near to 6 hourly as practicable.
