my name is Matt, I am an Italian pharmacist.
I recently registered with the GPhC and passed the UBELT Test (University of Bath English Language Test) but I'm finding it difficult to find a job. In fact there is a shortage of pharmacist in UK and I've found many vacancies across the country but all of them require some previous experience in UK.
I have no idea on how to approach the problem, in fact I need to learn how to use the software you have in UK Pharmacies, to practice how to keep records of sales ... I need to practice everything you would normally do during your pre-reg.
I was hoping you could give me some hint on what to do; I could support my stay in UK for 2 or 3 months without a wage, but would that be enough to allow me to apply for a position of, let's say... Relief Pharmacist ?!?
Thank you all in advance.
Regards,
Matt
PS I' can't register with the CPPE as I've not a UK Address... any idea on how to get some accreditations?
Hi johnep,
unluckily the only similar thread I could find was answered by an admin that told the user to contact him/her in private...
If anyone has an idea, please share it
I have the same problem, i am an EEA pharmacist, registered in GPhc. I was trying for a 7 months to find a job in UK ( I live here) but it seems to be impossible. Neither as a pharmacist nor technician. Maybe somebody could give me some good advice what to do to?

Hi Liam,
Try to attend the CPPE Return to practice course that should give you an idea about legal issues you need to look into more deeply. Some multiples (rather the supermarkets and Day LEWIS) allow up to three month of work experience internship like things ( not officially, but it is possible.) I had shadowing experience from a friend's Boots branch (very inofficial) and did one week of shadowing at the place I am working now and then was offered a job, first month back up by lovely locums...which helped me a lot. I found independent pharmacists also more approachable (met up with them at LPC meetings). Also CPPE modules about MUR/ EHC are must haves.
Living in a more rural area also helped ... avoid the crowded London job market (if possible)...
Not sure about Pharmacists but there seems to be a problem getting Pharmacy Tech jobs. A poster on here who's recently passed there Tech course told me the NPA said recently "thousands" have passed the NVQ course. I also saw somewhere that student Pharmacist applications to uni's are at a record high!! Not being rude Ushio 78 but i'm seriously doubting there are many jobs out there and the ones that are around, well the prospective employer can be very specific about job specs and attract only the candidates with masses of experience/skills etc. I would seriously think about looking elsewhere for employment. There must be a need for good pharmacists in other EU countries!!??? Why is everyone thinking that the UK is the answer to their problems?? Or am I being daft???
Tonight my wife and I had dinner at local Prezzo. we were served by a girl from Slovakia. Out of 12-15 staff, not one was from UK, despite local unemployment. As the waitress said, in Europe, the youngsters all take English as a second language and dream of coming to UK.
First the restaurants, next the pharmacies?
