I'm not a Pharmacist but i've lived and worked in a hospital in NZ. And I met a few ex pat pharmacists who made the move permanently. The main tip I would give you is to do tons of homework on NZ. Look into the various places to live and work, go on various web sites and chat in the forums etc. This all sounds like common sense but you'd be surprised at how little research some folk do into emigrating. And it costs a small fortune to get yourselves over there and get set up. Plus most NZ houses haven't heard of central heating and believe me, this becomes a massive problem after a while.....If you need to know anything else, just ask.

    You're not wrong there!!!

I went to stay with a pharmacist friend in 2002 in Queenstown in the summer (their winter) during the world cup.

Their house was heated by logs, which they allowed to burn out each night before bed. The first night there I got out of bed and put on a rugby shirt and tracksuit bottom and thick socks and still froze!!! Was in the shower the next morning for half an hour as I couldnt face getting out into the freezing bathroom!

Beautiful country though. Such a relaxing way of life. Not sure how easy it is to get a job though. I think most community pharmacists are owner operated as there are limits on the number of pharmacies that one person can own.

I did manage to watch the world cup games at respectable times though, in the evening, which was a bonus!
