Re: Visa issues regarding working in uk after ospap
Hi... It depends upon the location of work...If you will be placed in a city like London or Birmingham, Manchester there are very less chances that you will get the work permit because they will not want to spend on you as they can get N number of other applicants who can work for them....So its better to choose a remote area for pre-reg xx...
Re: Visa issues regarding working in uk after ospap
Hi all,
Slightly different visa question...I am on a Spouse visa (spouse visas are initially for 2 years probation, then you apply for permanent residency). If I start OSPAP now, my current visa will run out in the middle of pre-reg (at which point I will apply for PR) - but will pre-reg employers not offer me a contract if the visa I have at the time of applying doesn't run for the whole pre-reg year (even though I can renew easily...) - I don't want to have to wait any longer to work towards registration!
If anyone knows, or knows who I could contact to ask I'd totally appreciate it!

Hi i think u should consult ur pre-reg provider regarding ur visa issue...They will definitely giv u a placement but U will need to talk about the Tier-2 work permit visa...and if they are not issuing that and you are in position to get a PR in the UK..then u should assure them of ur current visa status...Only employer can decide whether to keep u or not...

Thanks....The problem is that you can't switch in country from a 'partner category' to tier 2 (the thinking is probably why would you need to) so I guess I'll just have to see how it goes. My understanding is that you have 4 yrs after finishing OSPAP to start pre-reg so I guess worst case scenario is I would get put back a year. Although I do worry a bit that employers might wonder why I've had to wait a year and think I'm perhaps not a competetive or serious candidate. Really want hospital as was a clinical pharmacist back in Canada (and thought I might have a decent chance as have a clinical residency under my belt, a board specialty in internal med and loads of experience)
