    Need Job : Please suggest

    Hi All,
I have done diploma in pharmacy(with 3 years of work exp. also) from india and now moved to UK,,I want to continue my carrier in pharmacy but I can't work as pharmacist in UK because of UK Govt. rules(Registration reqd.).But I'm in urgent need of a job. Can somebody please suggest in what other areas/profiles in pharmacy can I work without registering ? (In the meantime I can start the registration procedure as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician ),

First thing always search a forum (or for that matter anytime and anywhere in your life) for the right place where you can find an answer to what you are looking for. Next, you can not register as a pharmacist in uk with a D.Pharm from India. The worst is, even if you had a PhD in pharmacy from anywhere other than UK, no body cares. It's going to be your luck clubbed with how efficient you are at work plus communication skills (UK english and not just any english) can get you a job. Currently not many jobs in Community Pharmacy for new comers. Everyone wants an experienced hand which is also cheap So, in reality, unless you gain atleast 2 or 3 years of dispensing experience in the UK, you won't be able to register either (as a Pharmacy Technician)

Best way would be to approach Independent Pharmacies and apply for whatever role available, mostly the counter assistant role where you can learn how things work in UK. Then you can slowly move in to the dispensary once you prove to them that you are hard working and capable of working in the dispensary.

I know I am a bit harsh here, but that's how it is here. Try your luck and see what you get.

    All the best.

    Shan

p.s: If I may ask, on what visa have you come to the UK, that you are so desperate to get a job within such a short period (I assume) of entering ??

can you not find a job over there, rather than try and get in here when the jobs are getting thinner.

If your aim is to stay only for 2 - 3 years, then I doubt you will be able to get a NVQ 3 certified. It is better to approach some independent pharmacies and try to get a job as a counter assistant and move from there. It is very hard to get a job in UK without a valid UK experience.

    Good Luck.

    Shan

p.s: I assume your are a lady, hence getting a counter assistant's job would be relatively easier, but depends on your communication skills.

those darn uk government rules. Don't you just hate it when you go into another country and they actually have their own laws and rules, how frustrating. I might want to go to India and buy more than a certain percentage of a company in a certain sector, will they let me? no. why wont they let me? 'cos of those darn government rules.
