Same question, different poster. Someone post the link please. In the meantime search the forum on OSPAP and you will find out for yourself.

I think defintely. Look at the bold quote and think for yourself. The OSPAP is not just another conversion course. It is as tough or tougher compared to the regular MPharm in UK. Just imagine completing the 3rd and 4th year of the MPharm plus some additional modules, just under 9 months.
All the best,

”We are real. We are not glam sh*t or anything else. We are Guns N’ Roses.”
The thread you link to is in the student forum and I'm not sure that an overseas pharmacist will imagine themselves in theis category as they are already qualified.
Perhaps an OSPAP FAQ could be stickied in the global forums.
If the forum supports links to search results then:
No it doesn't work

I thought somebody should have put an end to the misconception on this forum that the OSPAP is equivalent to the last two years of an Mpharm program. The OSPAP is nothing like the Mpharm it is just design to bring oversea pharmacist up to speed about how pharmaceutical care is run in the UK. Not to degrade you intelligence but trust me you can never ever complete the last two years of an Mpharm program in nine months. So get over the idea that you have done in two semesters what the Mpharm or the old Bpharm graduates do in two years. All you have done OSPAP is to make sure patient safety is further is guaranteed when in your care, you know, so that you would not give paracetamol to patient complaining of stomach ache.
Looks like you are just reacting on what you have heard from someone else and not by actually studying at one of UNIs where OSPAP is undertaken. I did mine from RGU scotland. How about these facts -- I had to achieve minimum band 7 (out of 9) in the ever difficult IELTS (I can challenege you for a 6). Then during OSPAP I had 7 modules in common. I shared all the pharmaceutical advanced sciences lectures + 1st part of Pharmacare which had Pharmacology as main subject including OSCEs with the third years in first half. Then I shared another 4 modules (rather all of them what 4th year MPHARM had) with the 4th year students, attended all lab based studies + OSCEs + placements with them. Then I had 3 modules exclusively for OSPAPs. I had to write 3 essays on par with MPHARMs, 2 presentations along with MPHARMs, a mini project and a big project with the MPHARMs. Then there were 3 written exams which had the same question paper as the third and final year MPHARMs. Overall in all the subjects I was examined/ assessed either individually or in groups on par with the 3rd and 4th year MPHARMs. Now tell me am I not covering most of 3rd and final year MPHARM in just under 9 months ??????
I wish, my friend, that you were right and OSPAP was as easy as you thought and you will see loads of people queing for it. But, its not true. We are gruelled to the highest level to bring us upto the so called UK education level. Its not just patient care I am afraid. Only people with dedication and determination can sail through. Unlike many MPHARMs (specially the home students) who dont have any burden, whether monetory or family obligation; OSPAPs have great deal at stake. We invest minimum 15K for this 1 year period with no family to support in this country. Then not all OSPAPs get good pre-reg placements and end up earning between 13-17K max.
DO your homework and base your thoughts on some facts and figures not just on imagination. This country will never allow some one from non-EU country to achieve something so easily as you are portraying.

pssst: what should I give you, if you get stomach ache after reading this post![]()
If you compare your new post with the earlier which I responded to, you will realise that you are just emphasizing my point. If your check my post again you will realise at no point did I make any indication on OSPAP being easy. My point is that you can not cover ‘‘all’’ the modules in 3rd and 4th yr of Mpharm in 9 months and this as been confirmed in your new post. Though, you will have to do a lot with those students but you will never be expected to do ‘’all’’ same modules as them. Which is reasonable as you are already a pharmacy graduate and practising and most of these modules you are believe to be familiar with, so what OSPAP is meant for is reinforcing the knowledge that you already posses as a pharmacy graduate and introduce you pharmacy practice in the UK.
Shan, if anything I understand you position may be more than most people on this forum. I came to the UK 8 years ago, put myself through College and School of pharmacy as an international student, all of which I funded with money I got doing night and weekend security guard. So my dear, I know what you are talking about.
Am not trying to take any of your achievements away from you, Nobody can even if they try, I just believe All the module and final research project from those last two years in Mpharm in addition to the essentials of the OSPAP cant be done in 9 months for a student that a never done it before.
Hope this clears things up and no hard fellings . Good luck.
