Hi,
I am a British Pharmacist having practised in this country for a number of years in the community. Is anyone aware of requirements of practising in New Zealand and also how easy/difficult is it to own your own pharmacy there?
Hi
I worked as a Hospital Pharm Tech in Wellington in 2007 and had a great time. The rules may have changed since then but you could only get a work visa if your job title was on the long or immediate skills shortage lists. I'm sure Pharmacist is still on them. You needed a job offer and I think you had to do some training before you could work independently. New Zealand Immigration web site will tell you what are the current requirements.
The only thing I will say is that it's a LONG way from the UK. I know folk will say "of course it is" but when you are there it really does sink in how far away from home (the UK for me) it is. Especially if you have family back home etc. I loved my time there but am glad i'm back home.
For the jobs, it's getting tougher around here as well. With 2 pharmacy schools in the country and and all the poms and boks around you have plenty of applicants.
