But I am a pharmacist in my background and I could have registered and practiced (registration is just to fill a form as I completed the requirements which is finishing the course with the training which was part of the course) but didn't really registered with the council there. I had the chance to work in the UK as pharmacy assistant, I am not sure if that is really worth to mention in CV.

I will be very happy If you could kindly provide me with advise

    Thanks

Well thanks for the details. You should have provided these details before, so any person from Jordan, if at all in this forum, would have provided info.

Anyway, as per my understanding of the society, these people spare no one other than people from EU countries.

Your CV needs to have all details of what you did after your graduation, irrespective of whether you think it is appropriate or not. Even if you were not working or lets say sitting at home they want you to put it in your CV. The CV you provide to the Society is not like the CV you would like to put across to a employer. I'll try to help as much as I can

Since you are already in UK you need someone to arrange for these documents to be sent directly from the organisations to the RPSGB.

    1. Academic Transcript from where you completed your graduation. This is a letter providing details of your marks obtained each subject both theory and practicle, for each year with an aggreagte score at the end. Moat of the Universities are aware of this fact.

    2. Reference letters from your a) professor who can say good things about you as a student and there after as a professional. (Not difficult if you know any of the professors or even the head of the college) b) previous, latest , employer from your country, if you mention you have worked in the CV, stating of your good standing during your employment. c) latest employer from UK, if you mention you have worked in the CV, stating of your good standing during your employment.

    3. A good standing letter from the council in your country if you have registered with them or a letter stating you are eligible to register as a pharmacist in your country and there is nothing adverse known about you that can prevent you from registering with the council.

    Thats it.

I told you, its not that easy as you think.

    Anyway best of luck.

    Shan

You have to note that just registering will not entail you for better positions unless you put on considerable experience behind you. Also, in UK you have to do additional qualification courses for any extra services you have to provide. Mostly these are distant learning courses.

In my view only 2 categories of people would like to get on to the register (from the view point of an overseas candidate)

    1. Become a Pharmacist in community or hospital.

    2. Do further studies in research, get a PhD and hope to land in a teaching job. Totally academic.

You chose the best that suits you. In my case, though I have 12 years of experience in Marketing behind me from my home country, I still was offered a start up position wherever I initially applied. So I decided to get registered and then start working as a Locum instead of working for the Industry.

You need to keep in mind, you lose 2 years of your career before you start earning good money.

    Thanks Shan,

    Sorry for this delayed reply.

So it seems that locuming is the best option. Can i start my own pharmacy. Does it need any special applications after my registration.

I appreciate your effort to help others !!!

    Cheers

    Dear Raoul

thanks for answering me in detail.

the problem is sitting far everything looks to be in your favour.as you asked that why do i have to leave dubai(although im registered here and working as hospital pharmacist with very good salary),the reason is dubai is my birth place so it looks to me as normal, secondly life too here is getting complicated, rents are soaring high.if you have to pay 6000-7000p.a for 3bedroom flat, the rent in dubai for such is above 1lac dirham.if you earn 10000 dirham per month how could you live by paying only 8333 dhm as monthly rent.food prices, petrol, road taxes all have increased tremendously.as its a global factor.

the most disturbing element which i have faced along with hundreds of many other people that 60 years is your age limit, after that these arab people kick you out of their country regardless how much your contribution is in the development or whatever.......
you get no nationality,no preferences,no pension,no old age benefit, also medical insurance is according to your salary range.etc.
many of our pharmacist who were registered here have moved to canada, for the purpose thatatleast they can get nationality.the future for their children is saved.
hope that you have understood the reason why peole from dubai are moving away from it.
also there is many other issues like job insecurity.

regarding industrail sector,im only aware of julphar group, its a huge pharmacuetical industry but as ive never been intrested in industry so have no detail about it.

once again thanks alot,i will definetly work up with my family friends and cousins living in uk before coming.

i am quite surprised you are even thinking to leave Dubai to come and work in the UK!

and read my earlier post about considering the NET income vs Living expensed in the UK and back home (i.e Dubai in your case).

not to mention another imp factor that should be considered, how much a person is WILLING to integrate within society.
i know some people from the gulf who came here for postgraduate studies, but did not like the lifestyle/culture and ended up going back home before completing their degree.
anyways pm me if you are interested to know why

    best of luck

    Hi Somash,

My name is Veensp and i am also planning to do my OSPAP course next Sep. can i ask you one question? In which area did you do Phd (Pharmaceutical or sciences)? And you mentioned that you are working in Research, then why you prefer to do OSPAP?

Are you unhappy with the research work which you are doing or its better money in Pharmacy?

Sorry to ask such questions, i am more interested in research side, but here i couldn't get more relevent job to my clinical research experience (My employer first considered my SAs programming skills in combination with clinical research experience and pharmacy background). Which is why i am looking for other options like OSPAP.

Just to know why PhDs also preferring pharmacy practise ????

    Regards

    Hi Veensp,

My PhD is in pharmaceutical sciences and drug delivery. I worked in university and industry, the problem with university is the insecurity unless you sort out a permenant job (such as a lecturer) which is hard for a second language speaker (especially in London), add on this is the relativly low income.

Industry is ok but similar problem, carrier wise university is better and more interesting.

I want to register as a pharmacist so I can get some more job security. I am not planning to quit academia and research. Also, being a pharmacist (with a PhD) opens other doors such as regulatory agencies such as MHRA and EMEA, as these require registration with the RPSGB, along with a PhD qualification.

All a relic of empire days, had Asia sent out ships to conquer the world, then position would be different.
