    Fridge temperature problems

    Hello,

If a fridge temperature has exceeded 11 degrees celcius, and this occured overnight (so its not clear for how long) can a dispensing doctors practice claim any money back for the vaccines/stock that has been compramised?

I have heard of this but wasn't 100% clear as to how and whom to make the claim to????

    any thoughts much appreciated?

Check your insurance policy. I don't see the NHS coughing up.
    ....just my opinion

A pharmacy I worked for (as a medicines counter assistant at the time), had a similar predicament. They carried on with business as normal since the fridge door was closed properly; hence the temp returned to normal range.

Correct procedure is to dispose of affected stock...one pharmacy I worked at disposed of maybe a few thousand pounds of fridge items 'cos of this. Another pharmacy I worked at had a broken fridge and the PHARMACY MANAGER didn't seem to care when I told her. When I found out no one cared (half day shift-everyone left except one counter assistant)I had to move all the stock upstairs to their staff room fridge. don't know why I bothered, although I did refuse to dispense any fridge item.

    Re: Fridge temperature problems

putting it simply...........area managers only care about, item numbers, otc figures, MURs/NMS, if a patient comes to harm 'cos of fridge not working, that is the responsible pharmacist's problem.

The pharmacist (manager) was overladen with work for a care home (i.e. deadline to meet)/short-staffed etc...and that was her excuse. But this is her problem if she lets middle management treat her like shit. She didn't look too worried about the fridge, nor was i informed that a new one had been ordered.

The cheek of it, when I was carrying all the items up to the other fridge I was rudely and abruptly told by the very young (inexperienced, maybe in the job for 2-3 months at most, part time) shop assistant, " you're not going to leave me all alone down here are you" plus I was on the phone trying to get get hold of someone and she assumed I was calling my gf or something.
End of the day, couldn't get hold of anyone, so I thought why did I bother, especially with the hostility shown to me. Luckily we didn't have any rx for fridge items nor anyone collecting, so ok in that way.All in a days work. (actually that was a half day shift).
