    Veterinary meds... getting started

As I understand it, any pharmacist can supply POM-VPS meds, but I think I'd like to know what I'm doing before considering it further!

I've found the PgD at Harper-Adams but that might be a bit too long-winded and expensive for a starter; is there anywhere else that can give me enough grounding to decide if I want to take this idea further?

I've applied to join the RPS vet group but after the Law and Ethics group took 8 months to let me know that just being interested in L&E without a law degree wasn't good enough to join them, I'm not holding my breath...

I may be working soon in a currently quiet community pharmacy in a rural town; there's a petshop 2 doors up with the usual worm/flea meds and a few miles away a farmer's store with the meds for farm animals but I think there may be a place for supply of stronger stuff for pets and maybe small holding-type animals (and probably unavoidably horses). It seems to me that supply of vet meds would be a good USP for the shop... requiring a fair bit of learning effort on my part, but relatively small investment in stock/space/registration etc

So, thanks in advance for any thoughts/pointers.

I am sure you will get good advice on LV as one of the contributors is well versed in vet issues.

I attempted to enrol on the Harper Adams course this year but they are a shambles. I have staff following the AMTRA course and it seems to be very similar. Harper adams are involved in that but it can be done by distance learning and also can be examined at a range of outlets across the UK.

    Good luck!
