Normal business practice- Sell some, buy some.
There were two sold in my area over the past couple of years, was told it was due to OFT or competitions commission regulations as they had multiple representations in the same town????
in some places LLoyds have been the only pharmacy and sold up - generally these pharmacies have not been run very well, haven't seen very many scripts/turnover eg Tanworth-in-Arden - others eg Stourport they could have easily relocated nearer one of the surgeries BUT didn't (!!??) then they sold and the new owners relocated next to surgery?
lot of lloyds taking over hospital outpatient scripts now anyway
Lloyds had two pharmacies about 20 yards from each other near Morecambe Health Centre, for historical reasons. One did most of the scripts and the other did the methadones. Doctors at Morecambe Health Centre opened a 100-hour pharmacy, took virtually all the scripts from both Lloyds, and after a year (about) the successors of the Doctors bought the contract of the smaller pharmacy, reverted to standard 50 hours, and closed the smaller one.
How does one envisage to work for a GP surgery pharmacy?
Find out who owns it, and talk to them... in this case it's Cohen's, from Bolton
I would imagine they would want someone with lots of experience before they considered you?
^ Sorry, I do not think I was quite transparent with what I was asking. When I askde about working for a GP surgery and experience, I was referring to the high volume of scripts, hence a GP surgery dispensary would want someone who is fairly erudite.
