Anybody got any stock gathering dust on their shelves? Not available until (at least) March 2012 from the sole supplier Alliance Healthcare.
Thanks in advance

Thanks John - could you suggest one? Showing my ignorance, but I'm not aware of any similar products. Nothing in BNF or C&D as far as I can see.

Hey guys, I hope this is of some use...
Originally Alliance/Cambridge suggestion was to use Konakion as an alternative.. then I found this (See Below)
Roche has emailed a letter which details the difference between phytomenadione and menadiol.
Roche cannot recommend that Konakion MM injection is used as an alternative and Alliance Pharmaceuticals cannot recommend an alternative.
REF:- Alliance Pharmaceuticals and Roche 08/07/10.
The RPS has produced guidance on alternative preparations, whilst Menadiol phosphate tablets are unavailable.
Unlicensed preparations
* phytomenadione tablets 10mg (Menadion)
* phytomenadione drops 20mg/1ml sugar free (Ka vit drops)
* phytomenadione oral solution various strengths (generic versions and Kanavit 10mg/5ml)
* menadiol oral solution in various strengths (generic versions)
Unlicensed indications
* phytomenadione capsules 1mg (Neokay) - only licensed for use in babies
* phytomenadione injection; periodic IV infusions (Konakion MM)
* phytomenadione injection; orally (Konakion MM for adults unlicensed for oral administration but exactly the same formulation as Konakion MM paediatric which is licensed to be used orally.
Pharmacists should check patients are able to break open the ampoules of Konakion MM injection and have facilities to dispose of the sharps.
Neokay capsules contain a liquid to be dispensed and are not intended be swallowed; parents need to snip the top off and drop the contents into the baby’s mouth. This could affect compliance if large doses/quantities are to be administered at a time.

I know a pharmacy where i work and I had ordered the full bottle 2 months ago just to dispense 10 tablets. But not sure they will transfer the stock (if at all they have now) to any other place not in their chain.

Good lord! Have given out unlicensed Glucosamine and Vit tabs many times before, eg folic 400mcg.
Up to Doc.
