Question Need help with 'pre registration trainee pharmacy technician' job vacancy!!! :(

Hey everyone, I need serious helps here...
Im 18 and planning to do the “pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician job” so I get trained to become a pharmacy technician after 2 years. As far as I’m concerned I need to do the “nvq level 3 pharmacy services” and also need to work full time in a pharmacy environment. I’ve been searching online for two weeks now; apparently I can't find any vacancies in London 1. So I badly need help with getting this job. I've mostly looked at nhs jobs and national apprenticeship website. 2. Should I email local hospitals if they can offer me this job? 3. By the way is there any deadline dates to apply for the job/exam, etc. 4. Please advice me if I should do anything else instead. I don’t have proper experience in a pharmacy environment, but I did a work experience in a pharmacy but mostly what I did was, observing the pharmacist and self stacking. Please helpppppppppppp!!!! thanks

Are you only looking to work as a technician in a hospital? The 'pharmacy environment' you refer to can also be a community pharmacy - if you haven't considered this, there might be more vacancies for you to search for.

Work experience helps, but generally speaking, I'm sure any positions where you've worked with the public will look good too.

Im not really looking to work as a technician only in a hospital, Im just willing to do the trainee job and get qualified as pharmacy technican somehow. But I think it is hard enough to get this particular job in community pharmacy. I went to community pharmacy and gave my cv, but they said they dont have any vacancy. Yes I have work experience from museum, medical centre too.

You are a victim of the current economic troubles. The government has heaped so many rules/regulations/taxes onto employing staff that employers are constantly trying to reduce staff and cut hours. you may be able to get started by offering to work unsocial hours in a supermarket pharmacy.

There are a number of ways you could start your career in pharmacy.

Have you considered volunteering for perhaps 2-4 hours a week in your local pharmacy and studying either the Medicine Counter Assistant's course or the Dispensing Assistant's course?

If you would like to discuss these options further please email Buttercups via training@buttercups.co.uk
