Just thought someone might have some experience of this on the forum. I have basically, been locuming for 1.5 years since I qualified, and cannot see myself doing this for the next 35-40 years. I also cannot find any full-time employment in my region, so looks like I need to move anyway. Therefore, since I'm doing that, I may as well consider other sectors. I do not know the first thing about how to get into industry, what kind of job I would go into, if they look for certain extra qualifications, etc as industry was barely mentioned to us at uni, by anyone.
Medical Information would be a good place to look at first. From there it's possible to move into other area like Scientific Affairs,Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory etc. With regards extra qualifications, I would say experience in Industry is more important first. When you are in and have some experience then consider doing a specific post-grad part time e.g. Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Research etc. The other route would be into Manufacturing which I don't really know much about. My thoughts would be that this area is moving out of Western Europe and over to cheaper places-Eastern Europe, India etc.
Hope that helps.
Hector
