The PDA ( and others) are unions providing protection both collectively and individually.
The RPS is a professional body (soon, probably, to become a Royal College) to support and develop the profession of pharmacy.
But there are other organisations to campaign on issues of importance to sections of our profession. For example, Pharmacy voice campaigns on behalf of the large contractors, The Independent Pharmacy Federation campaigns on behalf of independent contractors. And now (though we are not really ready but we could wait forever to get everything perfect) there is The Pharmacists' Foundation to campaign on issues that matter to individual "coalface" pharmacists of all sectors.
We are not in competition with anyone else - we just feel that there are things we might achieve.
Have a look at our website (and please don't be too critical as you have no idea how many problems there are to overcome). Search for it on Google.
There is a niche that we hope to fill. More formal announcements of our existance will soon appear in the pharmaceutical press and elsewhere. But that's the advantage of an on-line site like this - you get to read it first!
