    The Pharmacists' Foundation

The PDA ( and others) are unions providing protection both collectively and individually.

The RPS is a professional body (soon, probably, to become a Royal College) to support and develop the profession of pharmacy.

But there are other organisations to campaign on issues of importance to sections of our profession. For example, Pharmacy voice campaigns on behalf of the large contractors, The Independent Pharmacy Federation campaigns on behalf of independent contractors. And now (though we are not really ready but we could wait forever to get everything perfect) there is The Pharmacists' Foundation to campaign on issues that matter to individual "coalface" pharmacists of all sectors.

We are not in competition with anyone else - we just feel that there are things we might achieve.

Have a look at our website (and please don't be too critical as you have no idea how many problems there are to overcome). Search for it on Google.

There is a niche that we hope to fill. More formal announcements of our existance will soon appear in the pharmaceutical press and elsewhere. But that's the advantage of an on-line site like this - you get to read it first!

There is a fee to join, so I take it this is a business?

It would have been nice if you'd asked if you could advertise first.

Yes it is a limited company but it does not exist to make a profit. You are quite right , I should have asked whether I could advertise and I apologise. It has cost a fortune so far which we will not get back. Feel free to ban us. I had quite forgotten that you were a commercial enterprise.

What exactly has cost a fortune? The web site - you're kidding there my friend. The hosting, no that's cheap enough.

This site is only commercial so it can pay for itself. I have funded this site from the start, not a group of us, just me. I don't use free forum software, or cheap hosting. We have great software, a very fast server, and we will soon have the mobile application for iPhones and androids. All this costs money, yet I've managed to recently fund most of it with excellent sponsors. Before that I paid for everything, and still got us into the top spot at Google on various searches.

If your company is not there to make a profit why not try going for charity status? Why waste more money registering with companies house if you don't want any profit?

I don't want to argue about this, but you did post the same ad for your site more then once. That causes all sorts of trouble with Google for duplicate content.

If you want to put up a proper advert like Buttercus did, then the rates are very reasonable.

I don't even know who to ban when you say "us" and I only ban spammers anyway.

It is better that further replies come from the owner of the company - I have only a minor role. But there are a couple of points I feel that I need to make:

    1) There was no choice but to become a limited company. This is because the name contains a restricted title and the GPhC are able to dictate the conditions under which it may be used. This involves jumping through a lot of hoops!

    2) I may have posted a few hints in the past but I cannot remember giving an actual link to our website or any other contact information.

    3) Despite your kind offer we are unlikely to pay for an advert as we don't have any money.

    4) Our details were "outed" on another forum (before we were ready) and I made the mistaken assumption that your members would also like to be kept informed of recent developments.

I've joined. I'm not thrilled about signing up in perpetuity however(having to cancel an order if I don't want to stay on board), never mind, good luck

Tony, it is not supposed to be a rival to the RPS. It has a different function entirely. (If you could please persuade Dorothy to remember that - well she did have a bad time with the RPSGB - I would be eternally grateful). As soon as your membership is sorted (may take a while due to lack of staff) please feel free to tell us what you think we ought to be doing that you, personally, want.

Not sure how much you paid, but my son will do you an excellent web site for £300. (not advertising as no names mentioned)
