I wondering what the starting salary is for a newly qualified pharmacists straight out the block. Specifically by organisation eg tescos, ASDA, boots, lloyds. I know boots says 35000, but asda offers 45000.

Can i have real figures from real pharmacists or employers no BS from non pharmacists or guese work.

    See this, from ASDA's website:

(This is an example only and is variable, dependent upon experience & location)
Salary based on full time hours of 45: £45,000

    Bonus - based on a 70% payout: £963

Note: A 100% bonus = £1,375 FTE with the potential to earn an extra 20% superbonus = maximum £1,650 FTE: £1375

    Total Pay: £45,963
    Source: ASDA Careers: Pharmacy: Benefits

Don't know if that'd be offered to newly qualified's though.

i was on 44k at asda three years ago as an experienced pharmacist (though i use the term 'experienced' loosely). Bonuses are acheivable however they used to be awarded on a store-wide basis, with pharmacy having little to no effect on this bonus. This may since have changed.

Tesco is start you on between £32k-42k. This depends upon store grade and contracted hours. The options are 36hrs, 39hrs and 42hrs. Not bad at all in my opinion considering most graduates wont get a job.

Starting salaries for newly qualifieds are 35k - 38k. I've never heard of anybody been offered anymore than that. If you're offered 45k it's maybe because it's a 700 item a day hell hole, that they can't fill so I would view it with suspicion.

Regardless, my advice to Cadbury King would not to go chasing postions based purely on the highest salary. The highest salaried postions with the Multiples are often revolving doors nowadays, Pharmacists get fed up very quickly with the targets and conditions they're forced to work under. The % of community Pharmacists who are locums is at it's highest in years I believe, which tells you something.

The pre-reg trainee who I was supervising got a manager job in a branch of the same company I work for. She get's £50K per aannum - but that's Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, so quite a workload. The 40 hour week equivalent is £40K per annum.
