Letrozole (Femara) supply issues to come to an abrupt end :)

......on the 25th of July.....when the generic is launched. I will be very happy if I never have to order a single pack of Femara ever again. All of our letrozole prescriptions are written generically and I frankly don't have time to be faxing Novartis. As most of you will know, Femara is on quota to wholesalers and the Novartis emergency supply system is not exactly user-friendly. It would be especially helpful if their fax machine was not constantly engaged; it is as if they don't want you to be able to get through.

Teva are due to launch on the 25th July when the patent expires but I expect numerous other companies will also be launching their products. The MHRA website shows that they have granted MAs to a number of manufacturers. I know some patients have missed doses of Femara due to the supply issues - I don't think this will happen in future.

...And we can Parallel Export all the Femara that we get on quota to the EU.
    Watch the money roll in!

(OK you all know I'm only joking here.)
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

Good news! I've had a lot of patients who are prescribed Letrozole very distressed about the stock shortages. Good to know it's all over.

So... generic letrozole (Femara) was launched today. Prices will be very competitive due to the significant number of manufacturers who are selling this medicine eg. TEVA, Actavis, Sandoz, Winthrop/Zentiva, Consilient Health etc.
