You would've got further if you told her you were a pornstar.

Sad story but don't beat yourself up over it. My guess is that she ISN'T a medic in training, realised you as a pharmacist would soon figure that out so got away before her cover was blown.

Alternative theory. She IS a medic in training and didn't want to be with somebody who knows far, far more than her.

    First of all never lie...

Say you are a drug dealer.
Or you work for a Government Contractor and a lot of the work is confidential.

I remember being asked how many GSCEs do you need to be a pharmacist.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

    Being from a Asian culture.
The order of preference is, starting from the top.
Doctor, accountant, lawyer, banker, dentist, shop owner, and then pharmacist.

    Go figure!

This is far more likely to be true. I am very closely involved with doctors of all ages and stages of career progression. Every one of them remembers an occasion when a pharmacist saved their professional backside. They all respect pharmacists very much.

I note a worrying willingness amongst contributors to this site to think ill of pharmacy and their own role within it. Pharmacy is not just that dished out by Boots and Lloyds. I am a pharmacist like all of you and started with less than most. I have had a fantastic time, particularly since the mid 1990s and I have done very well. If I can, everyone else here who so carelessly and casually disrespects pharmacy with their belittling contributions can also.

Please remember that if you don't respect yourself no-one else can be expected to respect you.

    And this is published where?

We practice in the UK not an Asian country. UK pharmacy and pharmacists, particularly with the advent of the masters degree and independent prescribing has never had a higher stock in the world.

I don't care what the penguins and Polar bears think about me, nor the argentines or French. I care only how my patients and colleagues (not just pharmacists) perceive me.

If I cared about respect in an Asian country, which you have chosen to use as a comparison, I would buy a medical degree in Calcutta market.

I am not disrespecting Indian doctors but pointing out that medical qualifications are available for sale in Asia and there are "doctors" practicing with them. If status was all I wished for, that is an avenue open to anyone who doesn't want the inconvenience of working for a reputeable qualification
