Upsetting Prime Minister speech on NHS.

I do not believe that the prime minister said "hospital doctors and nurses will be involved in clinical commissioning." forgetting and excluding all the other health professionals working for the NHS such as pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists...etc.
This is a very upsetting discrimination!!! He should have included all the secondary care professionals.

Could not agree more, this is ridiculous, I'd rather negotiate with a commercially astute Pharmacist than the "less than realistic" attitude's witnessed at doctor and consultant levels.

Hey ho,,, we had a great service didn't we

I think these commisioning bodies will find it hard to get an overview of the NHS and will be stuck dealing with things on a patient by patient approach. More money will be spent on a few with services for the bulk of patients being reduced.

Just seen news on TV of meeting where the speaker queried why govnmt always run to vested interests and consultants, but rarely ask the 'doers'.

The answer to that is quite simple. The 'doers' would tell them things they don't want to hear.

A 'consultant' will always say that OTHER people should lose their jobs or do more work for less money. They will never suggest getting rid of the people who had to hire a consultant because they can't do the job themselves. The less the people in charge know the more they need ever more highly paid consultants.

In Ireland we have government ministers who employ 'advisors' who earn more than they do, despite having a civil service whose job is to advise the minister and a population happy to 'advise' for nothing.
