Double Strength Chloroform Water

when making Double Strength Chloroform Water from concentrate Strength Chloroform Water .....
measure around 90 ml water and add 5ml of chloroform to it and make the volume to 100ml if done other way round they chloroform will stay in the bottom of conical mearsure.

but when sometimes in formulation Double Strength Chloroform Water is mixed with water which order should be added to each other?
Double Strength Chloroform Water to water or water to Double Strength Chloroform Water or it does not matter??

Are you sure this is right?

IIRC years ago double strength chloroform water used to be made by putting 5ml (could have been 10ml) of chloroform into 2L of cold distilled water. The bottle needed to be shaken every now and then for a few days but you would have more than one on the go.

The limited solubility of chloroform in water would ensure that an overdose of chloroform in the final product was virtually impossible.

Never mind which way round you add things - do you KNOW nowadays exactly what you are making?
