And all of the just talking stopped?
It seems there is a fear that it will be implemented soon. But the same thing was probably being said years ago.

It may not be directly implemented but ushered in through the back door.
The Sainsbury's prescription machine for instance.
There are trials of hospital dispensing machines where the script is dispensed at the machine but checked by a pharmacist elsewhere.
Hub a spoke dispensing which is being used by an increasing number of small multiples is a form of remote supervision. Does the spoke part require a pharmacist? or could it be a post office, Tesco Express etc.?
Sorry Hubert George, I had to paraphrase...
No one would have believed in the first years of the 21st century that this profession was being watched keenly and closely by a greed greater than avarice and yet more efficient and organised; that as pharmacists busied themselves about their various micro-concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a clipboard might scrutinise the transient workforce in a burger bar. With infinite complacency pharmcists went to and fro over their post-nominals and the minutae that rule their affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire in the dispensary.
Chilling or what!

Do any pharmacists really believe that they will be lucky to still have their job in the next few years?
And with remote supervision, what will happen to Murs and the other services?
Is it gathering any pace to start unemploying the pharmacists?
Things are bad and they are going to get worse but that is no reason to stop fighting. Why this slave mentality among pharmacists?
At least look at what the RPS is saying:
Royal Pharmaceutical Society | Our vision (you won't need to sign in so no-one will know you're a troublemaker!)
If you want to ask these people something their e-mails are firstname.surname@englishpharmacyboard.org except for Sandra Melville who is the chair of the Scottish Pharmacy Board and Nuala Brennen who is chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board.
Helen Gordon is the CEO of the RPS and as she is employed to run it for you (and is not on any of the boards) her e-mail address is helen.gordon@rpharms.com
Also see what the PDA is saying (you won't have to sign in here either).
The PDA - The Pharmacists' Defence Association - Home Page Click on 2011 PDA Conference.
You could even consider going to the PDA conference in Birmingham of Saturday 26th and/or Sunday 27th of February. At least have a look at the programme ( http://www.conferenceevent.com/progr...ml?conf_id=243 ). I'll be there.
There's a new topic on the RPS website right now on remote supervision (but you'll need to sign in and your owner might find out and give you a damn good thrashing.) For the brave it is here: http://groups.rpharms.com/_forum/for...te-supervision
A few words some of you might like to think about:
Professional Empowerment
Road Map for Pharmacy
When will remote supervision be implemented? - when you let it!
Exactly my thoughts.
There has to be the first pharmacist who agrees to remote supervison.
If they don't there can be none.
Don't worry it won't be me!
RP Rules;
Has anyone used the RP rules to refuse to work in unsafe, unsanitary, understaffed or badly run pharmacies?
Has anyone left a report with a superindendent as an RP drawing their attention to any details they are not happy with as a professional?
Let that be our aim in 2011.

Thanks for pointing me at the article.
It also shows some of our employers in a true light.
Glad Andrea stood her ground.
It makes me think twice the next time that I go in at 0700 or something like that to clear any backlog and get organised, work through and finish late in an attempt to leave the place straight.

Here it comes...
The thin end of the wedge.
Pharmacy law
“The legislation just doesn’t match what people would like to do with their pharmacies,” he explained.
Who are the "what people"?
No prizes for guessing....
If this happens dig your heels in - supervise two pharmacies - two salaries!
