Pharmacy Jobs website Opinions and ideas required

    Hi all

What would you like to see from a Pharmacy Jobs website?

If you are a locum or looking for full time work. What features do you want?
What would you, as pharmacy staff and employers find useful?
I run a pharmacy jobs website. The site allows employers to post jobs and search / contact job seekers.

www.looppharmacyjobs.com we are pharmacy forum sponsors

It also encourages pharmacy jobs seekers to create a profile and search / contact employers.

Thing is, the site is not working the way I had hoped. I wanted to ask the retail and hospital pharmacy community the following.

Do you even need or want such a web site? The idea was to create a hive of activity for little cost and high return on investment for the employer.
I would love to know what would bring value to the site.
This is not a get rich quick website. I really want it to bring value to the users

    Constructive feedback would be welcomed

I did look at your site a few days ago. Very few UK jobs and it turned out at least one of those wasn't in the UK anyway!

There's always a problem reaching a critical mass with a site like this - where it's widely known and used and useful. Compare with ebay, amazon etc - massive once they get recognised (ok, your market's a bit more niche, but same effect) - also very difficult for competitors then to join in.

I've not got any quick fixes for this apart from advertise, advertise, advertise.... you may need to offer lowcost or freebies to employers and employees to start with, to try and reach that critical mass.

Your main oppurtunity in the UK (as far as I can see) is that access to the current main place for pharmacist job adverts - the PJ - might be about to become much less accessible to a lot of pharmacists now the RPS is voluntary.

The main problem is that many jobs never reach the PJ in the first place - they are settled locally by word of mouth.

I think you need to be proactive, and add jobs to the site yourself, with your own reference numbers, so that you can demonstrate to those wanting employees that you are getting results. You can get such ads yourself from the PJ (particularly as it will become members only soon, leaving a gap in the market), the C and D, etc., or by approaching the major employers directly with a free offer, as defblade suggests.

As you will be aware, December is probably the worst possible time to attract jobseekers or employers, so I wouldn't be too disappointed.

The Pharmaceutical Journal is a membership benefit of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. To receive a copy you must either be a member or subscribe.

PJ Careers, the website that contains all the jobs published by the Journal, is free to access by anyone.

I was expecting that to disappear for free, as it's the only bit of the PJ a lot of poeple seem to read

Nope, PJ Careers is freely available to all and it's staying that way!

It also carries many more jobs than the print Journal aka PJ.
