« End of study Thesis » Faculty of Pharmacy, Strasbourg (France)

    Mr and Mrs the pharmacist,

I introduce myself; I’m a student in 6th year of pharmacy at the Faculty of Strasbourg (France). For my thesis, entitled « A world tour of the pharmacist advice », directed by Dr. Caroline Willer-Wehrlé, Professor at the faculty of Pharmacy, I solicit your help.

I established a survey, which will take only few minutes to fill in, and which will allow me to discover the specificities of the pharmacy in your country. In order that the results are the most representative, the maximum of answers are required. I thank you in advance for your participation, and I would be grateful if you would transfer the survey to other pharmacies you know.

By clicking on this link, you can fill in the survey on-line:

Thank you again for your cooperation.

    Best regards

    Some difficulties with your survey:
    What does "regroupment" mean?
    Whar is a "preparator"?
I have no understanding of what this means: What’s approximately the average percentage of OTC sold in your pharmacy (non prescribed medicine, parapharmacy)? :
    ....just my opinion

Sorry for my english, I'm french, so I try to explain :
A regroupment in french is a group which includes all pharmacist
Preparator is not a pharmacist, but an assistant
For the question, I want to know what is the approximate percentage of OTC medications sold in your pharmacy.

Can you help me to translate correctly this mistakes please.

    Best regards

Lets hope same confusion does not happen when our combined armed services go into action.

All pharmacists would be covered by 'pharmacist'.
preparator would be Dispensing Technician (Tech).

I'll have a go at your seurvey.

"What approximate percentage of your turnover is accounted for by OTC medication?"

There are two kinds of assistants: dispensing assistants and counter assistants. Whether they are supposed to or not, in most small pharmacies all will help out everywhere.

Frequent figures used 80:20 dispensing:OTC. In script factories like to be nearer 90-95%.

I have taken this survey but it is very difficult as there are many assumptions in the questions. It is not possible to answer some questions as more information is needed. For instance - choice of a drug usually depends on what other medication the patient is taking.

I do not practise homoeopathy but it would likewise be impossible to choose specific homoeopathic remedies based on one symptom so any replies from a homoeopathic pharmacist would also be of little value.

The use of more open questions would have been better.

    Thank you for the survey.
The use of more open questions will be a problem to analyse answers.
It's very difficult to find a good way to ask questions because if I ask too much things, people don't answer.
