    100 hour pharmacy query

This is probably a daft question but i'll go ahead with it anyway...

Do 100 hour pharmacies have to be actively dispensing for 100 hours or just open for 100 hundred hours. i.e. can you be open for 100 hours but just rely on the retail element for a proportion of the time to cut down on staffing costs.

    Thanks in advance...

You have to be open for 100 hours and available to dispense NHS scripts. Many are run single handed early and late. The local villains love a pharmacy where only one member of staff.

Best way of working is to make sure you look after at least one set of villains famiies (not illegal stuff, just excellent service).
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.

    Re: 100 hour pharmacy query

I work in a 100 hours pharmacy and on New Year's Eve I had to sit in an empty, closed shop (Asda) with just the locum pharmacist, a manager and two security staff. We spent most of the time just clearing cardboard off the shelves in all of the aisles so that the staff would have a clean start when they came in to restock them. I also had to check round the George section for clothes that looked like they might fall off the hangers and set off the security alarms. It was dead spooky being up on the mezzanine at night alone, and the mannequins kept frightening the life out me whenever they came into view!

Thanks for the responses. That is what I thought but just wanted to confirm.

As for the ASDA story. Can't imagine that would be much fun, especially on New Years Eve!

Amazing how weak and gullible some pharmacists can be......tidying up in the George section!! If you were in the George section (i.e. non-registered area of the pharmacy) then surely you were not in personal control of the pharmacy??! Was the pharmacy then not in breach of it's terms of service??

Post makes clear that locum was in the dispensary and it was a tech seeing to George.

I wasn't aware that helping out your friends / coworkers when you're sat there twiddling your thumbs doing nothing could be construed as weak or gullible! Especially if the pharmacist in question was helping out in a store which is locked with a guard on the door. And in all probability would have one of the manager phones in their pocket too, so they could be immediately contacted as the patient was let into the store.

But then of course, we are talking about the dispenser doing it. The pharmacist was probably playing cards with the security guard by the door.

Actually the locum was sat in the pharmacy reading her newspaper.

So I had a choice, sit twiddling my thumbs or help my colleagues to clear the store... hmm... what would Jesus do?

Anyhow, I had a great night as there was so few of us in and it was a bit of a giggle as the store felt so spooky and quiet. In fact the poor old locum was probably the most miserable sitting in all her glory in the pharmacy all by herself alone like Billy-no-mates! But at least the legal niceties were being observed!

The 'poor old locum' was doing her job. I doubt she was miserable, when Billy-loadsamates went for a giggle in spooktown. She was probably extremely glad you left her alone. I have no idea what Jesus would have done, although I doubt he makes a habit of clearing up supermarkets.
