    btc - scripts still £7.10?

whilst doing a locum at btc couldn't help but notice that the till was "charging" £7.10 script charge - on quering this with one of the assistants she said they were aware of the error (till hadn't been updated properly!) and had been in touch with head office who said just to carry on charging £7.10 until they could sort it out!
    my concerns -
is this something that's been happening in other btc branches or is this an issolated case?
is btc in breach of it's NHS contract for doing this?

Yes, breach of terms of service. Also not allowed to offer incentives to having rx dispensed at a particular pharmacy eg by "discounting" rx charge.

Otherwise everyone would be at it !

But staff were supposed to manually tap in the price over the top as they did on the 1st April this year.

Was at weekend, message obviously not got through to duty manager, when asked knew nothing. No healthcare staff on duty, and in any case no idea how to add 10p to what was via special pharmacy key, then NHS charge.

Hopefully people will do better with EPSR2.
Otherwise they will be searching the shelves for ;aejkp zc;kl znklsvlkvs.
Sorry Mrs Jones you'll have to wait for your ;aejkp zc;kl znklsvlkvs as it needs to come from the specials laboratory.

There was a message from the IT service desk on Wed. telling us to manually enter £7.20 using the dispensary sale button rather than NHS levy. I'm surprised head office hasn't picked up on those still charging £7.10.

Is it really a breach of terms of service and if it is could a "prosecution" be sustained in court?

Opticians offer free sight testing if you purchase your spectacles from them. Is that not the same thing?

This is a frequently-used means of bucking the trend, quoting 'system-update problems' in an attempt to attract more customers at a marginally more attractive price in the short term.

Tony is right...only next time keep ahead and do it yourself first.

SD did it a few years running when I worked for them!

Didn't someone in Wales get "done" for undercutting the script charge - albeit dispensing NHS scripts privately.
