Didn't someone in Wales get "done" for undercutting the script charge - albeit dispensing NHS scripts privately.

I seem to remember a company just inside the Welsh border, advertising a prescription collection & delivery service in a surgery just on the other side of the border, in England, offering to supply scripts at the lesser, Welsh Rx charge rate; That "loophole" was closed on august 1st 2005 (if I remember correctly), when the Welsh assembly Govt. decided to put an end to "Health Tourism" by stating that Rxs had to be issued by prescribers registered with a Welsh Local Health Board in order to benefit from the reduced presription charge.

I don't know what this "dispensing NHS scripts privately" story is about, though.

On the media at the time, chemist treating NHS scripts as private. lot of fuss but no action. Of course you also get the chemists collecting the charge and throwing the script away for very cheap items.
