Which smart phone is the best one for a pharmacist?

Hi I was thinking of getting a smart phone but in terms of workwise and practicality issue (cost, apps, reliablity) I'dont know which phone to get the IPhone 4 or HTC desire. So some advice would be much appreciated.

Most pharmacists that I know have gone for the iphone - but they're all posers anyway! The Desire is a much better phone for anyone who is wanting substance rather than style or street cred.

But I was wondering specifically what gives HTC desire better advantages over the iphone I just fancy getting a phone thats practical and useful rather than something which just looks good but not much else is going for it. So more specific details would be much appreciated!

I have a nokia for which I paid £25 about 8 years ago. Pay as you go. Costs me about £10 every other month. My wife recently bought a Samsung at £4.95.
    Quite adequate for us.

Here's a comparison between the Desire S and iphone 4.

techprob.com: HTC Desire S vs Apple iPhone 4

It seems to me that they are very similar phones and really it is a personal choice rather than is one better or worse than than the other.

My desire does everything that I want it to do from playing music (from Itunes) to making calls or finding where I am when I get lost in Newcastle!
It also has colournote which is a really useful app to make notes such as what you need to buy for tea or the dimensions of your windows when you are looking for new curtains.

I know that many people have had problems with the Iphone 4 but I've never seen anyone complaining about their Desire. The Desire also has Friendstream, useful for keeping all related correspondence in one place. I know that website rates the Iphone higher for memory, but they fail to take into account that when you include the microSD card this brings the Desire up to the same level as the Iphone. The Desire also has a faster processor which makes it faster than the Iphone when carrying out tasks or playing games.

Thanks for that, is the HTC desire more sturdy in your own opinion and do you have many pharmacy related apps downloaded onto the HTC, im investigating this because like you said before I dont want to buy a phone for posing but more for functionality!

I can't speak personally for the sturdiness of the Iphone, though a few people I know have dropped theirs in the past without problems. Not from any great height though! I've never dropped mine, but it does live in my bag, which occasionally gets tossed around a bit, and once or twice my bag has fallen off a bus seat with no problems. For me the main ones I have are the calculator, Colournote, QuickOffice, Maps, Calendar and Internet. There's also Angry Birds and Alchemy! There are some apps that are specifically pharmacy-related, you just need to Google it. I've never tried any of them myself, so I can't offer any feedback on them unfortunately.

Hey thanks, with regards to internet use of the iphone 4, how much memory would be sufficient for regular browsing ive heard 500mb is only sufficient to check your e-mails nothing beyond that! I'm just checking so I choose the right contract for myself. All I had was a standard phone as Jhonep described but I am thinking of upgrading to the IPhone 4 but only when 5 comes out so i have the best deal!

I have 500mb on my package and I find it is sufficient for my needs. You can't download videos from Youtube but you can manage normal browsing. I would watch out for the small print, as there may be a weekly limit, rather than a monthly limit. Tesco mobile operate this way, but advertise a 500mb monthly limit. If you have 500mb then see how it goes and upgrade to 1gb if it proves essential. There's no point in paying for capacity that you will never use.

Yeah that sounds like a fair enough idea, I know it has wifi capacity so at home I can browse stuff via Wifi if i dont use my laptop but at work esp Lloyds you dont have wider internet access due to potential risk of abuse hence i believe it can be handy to be honest!
