Cegedim Software: things we would like to see added and changed.

For a long time there was just no point making suggestions about this software, but now there does seem to be an interest in the company in making what we perceive as useful changes.

We know that there is a member "Cegedim" on this forum, so it will get read, and, who knows, maybe answered to.

I'll start the ball rolling, with a request about Pharmacy Manager. It really irritates me that when you choose a product, the software doesn't tell you if it is a discontinued version of that product. Seretide inhalers are particularly horrendous example of how it is unhelpful. It lets you go ahead and choose it, label things up and order them. Then, and only then, on the order screen, you can see that the item has been discontinued, and you have to do the whole control-Q thing to straighten it out. At the moment the scanner is only used for ETP, i.e. hardly ever.

A more difficult request but one which would make your software stand head and shoulders above nearly anything else, would be the ability to use the scanner to select the drug both on the order screen and on the script labelling screen. With ETP it could be used as a check of product selection.
    ....just my opinion

i'd like to be able to make it beep, so some warnings were audible.

hi davids do u have ur pharmacy manager set up as front and back memory for drugs or auto order on everything? we have ours set up so only the items we use regularly can be ordered and set to cheapest wholesaler and everything we dont use has to be picked out of back memory and ordered manually that way we cant get pi's or stock thats not used much its a pain sometimes but works generally in theory.

I've got a couple of thoughts...

    Pharmacy Manager,
Quite like this one but I can't seem to get it to print an extra bag label without going to the screen where you edit patient details. I'm thinking the equivalent of Link's F8 or Nexphase's Ctrl + B. I thought I saw an option (F5?) for this feature but it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if its a bug / missing feature.

    Nexphase,
A competent system, the Ctrl help screen is very useful for first time users. I'm working in an ASDA today and three times already Nexphase has crashed at the stage of creating a new patient. A quick look in task manager identifies a pjrnexphase process that is 'not responding'. The whole system slows down and sometimes it'll take you to the new patient, eventually, and other times it'll just crash. I'd love to know what causes the problem so I can avoid it.

Well, I'm a locum, but by and large its autoorder on everything. One little irritation is that when new products come along, or new versions of existing products, the system doesn't automatically put them on autoorder, with the usual results of irate patient and staff fibbing.

Its Control + F5. Needless fiddling, as usual for this program.

I have to say that this has now been fixed. Wonderful. Life is SO much easier.
    Thank you.

A couple of times now I have called up the Cegedim service desk with a query about how to do something. They usually end up saying 'that's odd, you should be able to do that...WHAT VERSION OF PHARMACY MANAGER ARE YOU USING??????". At which point they realise I am using an older version and send me the update files and surely enough everything is working really well. The thing I like about Cegedim is they are constantly working on their product.

So my advice would be to give them a call, you never know!

I know with Nexphase they bring out a release every month roughly, not sure about pharmacy manager, but there are always newer versions avaible to fix small things or even big things!

but if you ever have any issues should always ring them up rather than just keeping quiet about it!

Actually that could be one of the easiest new features for Cegedim to introduce.. I've not looked recently but I take it this still isn't available?
If you could manually enter a barcode number on the drug name box (which as far as I know you still can't), then you would also be able to scan it. Maybe it's just a case of Cegedim having to gather a barcode # for every product available?

True, but only if it's the last script you've labelled. Most people just go on to patient details and print an address label off. If I REALLY want a proper bag label related to the prescription (5 items etc...) then I do CTRL+Q, select the prescription, edit an item, insert the label, rather than f12-ing, and that just prints a bag label off. Complicated though!
