    Paper Prescription Security

    Hi,

We are a British manufacturer and have developed a low cost security device that turns the standard Brother prescription printer into a vault, thus stopping all distraction / opportunistic theft.

This has been developed in conjunction with several NHS partners and we are about to launch the product.

Do you guys and gals have security issues around repeat prescription printing and prescription printing and would you be interested in understanding more about the product?

    Best Regards,

    John

One for the GPs rather than us, John. We print out hardly any prescriptions as a profession, I would think.
    ....just my opinion

Yes, I guessed that may be the case, we have had a significant amount of interest from GP's and Hospitals, Thanks for the feedback.

Have you contemplated impact of EPSR2 where fewer scripts will be printed?

    Hi,

We have, this has been born out of a specific requirement for the NHS and a private care provider over the next 3 years.

Now we have the product, if there is potential to increase it's exposure across not just the healthcare market then all the better.

This is not just a script printer, it is a standard printer so any valuable pre-printing paperwork can be safely left in it.

I was thinking the same. The pharmacy will need to print prescription tokens and exemption declarations using an FP10 like form. However these forms are white and are not able to be used as a valid prescription. They only indicate that there is a valid electronic prescription on the spine. You cannot forge them as you would need to know the bar code of a valid electronic script.

The other current issue is Information Governance (ie confidentiality) but this is only a problem after the items have been printed.

A printer vault that prints £20 notes would be handy though ;-)

Unfortunately we haven't been developing the £20 unit, however if there is demand for a secure paperpath following printing then it would be an easy development.

I will have to watch this space

Perhaps the House of Commons could use as have been cases of misuse of the headed paper.
