Interestingly RxSystems has been taken over by EMIS in a 10mil. pound deal. Also AAH link users are being moved to Proscript LINK and this process is complete in Scotland (Where EPS is easier)
I'm wondering whether EMIS' connection to RxSystems will encourage them to implement a repeat management system with the kind of link that pharmacy2u (Medsrequest) has but managed at the pharmacy using the Proscript PMR system. The odd thing is that EMIS web, which they are pushing as they are not developing EPSr2 for any other versions, uses a web based database while Proscript has all the data stored locally.
What are the chances of Proscript WEB?
Heard that it all needs to be upgraded for Windows 7 (the EPS part anyway)
The whole software thing has got to big for pharmacists to be involved in, and the pharmacy side will be money spinning business of whoever the scripts get syphoned off to, with us just being the beasts of burden; we will become like any healthcare software - like it or lump it user. However, we will still have all the legal responsibility for errors.
You've got to hand it to those guys for spotting the opportunity and exploiting it though.
